When we did our [SNL audition] show in New York, that one that was really nerve-wracking, Amy Poehler made a really concerted effort to laugh. I don’t even know if she found the stuff funny, but she started laughing really hard. She started laughing to loosen the room up, like ‘Come on everybody, these guys have flown in from LA’. She could see that I was white as a ghost beforehand, and she was very helpful.
